Established in 1874, Second Christian Church continues to maintain as a staple church in Atchison, KS.
WHO ARE WE
Established in 1874, Second Christian Church is a part of the Disciples of Christ denomination. However,
our congregation consists of members from diverse backgrounds, ethnic groups, and Christian
experiences. We have been a staple church in the community of Atchison, KS since the early 1900’s, and was once the first school for many African American Atchison natives. More than a century later, Second
Christian Church continues to impact the lives of others through unconditional love, outreach, & God's word.
Our leaders, Pastor Paul & Co-Pastor Marla Kelley have served as overseers for the last 36 years.
Because of the anointing power that is upon the ministry, the integrity and character of our leadership,
the hunger for God’s glory, biblical teachings, and the love for those who are lost, many have accepted
Jesus Christ as their personal savior, been healed, delivered, and set free. From ministries such as
D.I.V.A.S, praise & worship, to Created for Greatness Youth ministry, Second Christian Church aims to
serve God by feeding his sheep.
WHAT SEPARATES US
We are family. You are a visitor once, after that you are considered family. We are a church body that
supports each other through encouragement and love. Hugs are a regular occurrence, and we often
hang out after church to catch up with each other. You have the freedom to worship God, utilize your
gifts, and learn practical, life changing biblical principles. The Spirit of the Lord resides here, and you can
be sure that the presence of the Holy Spirit will show up each time we gather. You want real, this is the
